Free employee attendance sheet template (Excel)
Download a ready-made employee attendance sheet in Excel: a monthly grid with present, absent, late, leave and rest-day codes that totals itself, and a daily log that works out hours worked, minutes late and overtime from time in and time out. Free, no signup.
What is inside
- Monthly attendance: 30 employees × 31 days, a drop-down in every cell (P present, A absent, L late, V leave, R rest day or holiday), and automatic totals per code for each employee.
- Daily time log: date, employee, time in and time out, with hours worked, minutes late against the shift start, and overtime beyond the normal day calculated for you.
- How to use: short instructions.
How to use the monthly sheet
Type the company and month, then the employee names, and pick a code for each day. The last columns count present, absent, late and leave days with COUNTIF, ready to copy into payroll. To put a value on lateness or overtime, use the lateness deduction calculator and the overtime calculator.
The limits of a manual attendance sheet
A spreadsheet cannot prove where someone was when they clocked in, it needs typing every day, it can be edited after the fact, and it gets messy across branches. That is why teams move to an attendance app where employees clock in by phone with time and location, and reports still export to Excel in the shape you are used to.
